Angel
Some good Samaritans had found along a two-track road on State land here in Michigan.    They said that the animal was weaving and staggering and could hardly stand up when they first noticed  her and she was such a mess that they thought it was a dying coyote.more...

Kenya
I received a call from a woman who said she feared the worst for some puppies in the area.   She said she was driving on a country road and saw a very skinny, malnourished German Shepherd chained to an old rickety dog house and she thought she saw a tiny puppy by her side, and she wasn’t sure if it was dead or alive as it wasn’t moving.more...

Mario and Precious
Mario and Precious ended up at our rescue within weeks of each other.   They both were very young and came with serious issues.    Mario had been horribly abused as a young puppy by a cruel and ignorant man, and Precious had been dumped in the middle of winter and had serious health issues.   She fought pneumonia, frostbite and chronic upper respiratory infections for a very long time.   more...

Alex

Alex appears to be a purebred English Pointer, but at 90 pounds, he is very large for that breed.  Alex has been with us off and on for 5 years.   He first came to us as a criminal abuse case where his owners were charged with animal cruelty and neglect.  These people had many hunting dogs and most were tied to trees.   Alex and his siblings were running loose and were very skinny and tore up when I came upon them.  The people would throw a handful of kibble out for 6 pups and the pups actually fought and bloodied each other trying to get enough food.   To add to the horrible situation, these people or shall I say idiots, would fire rifles over the dogs' heads.   Alex is terrified of gun shots and thunder and any large bang from any source, which has been the main reason that his adoptions have not worked.  Whenever there is a thunder storm, either myself or my husband has to sit with him to keep him calm.   One day we were gone and a surprise thunderstorm hit and when we got home, our sunroom had been destroyed.

Alex has actually been adopted 3 times and returned three times.   Coupled with his fear of thunder, etc., he also has chronic ear and skin infections.  We have tried everything to heal him, both conventional and holistic treatments to no avail.   When I get Alex' ears cleared up, he stops licking his paws and underbelly, but the ears are a consistent problem, which means he has red paws and stomach most of the time.

Alex needs testing to see if we can determine what he is allergic to, and if there is something more we can do for him.   We have tried every recommended diet for skin and allergy problems and nothing has helped.

If you would care to donate to Alex' fund for allergy testing, then please specify Alex' name on the paypal transaction or you can email or call me to discuss other arrangements.
