Success Stories

Angel
Some good Samaritans had found along a two-track road on State land here in Michigan.    They said that the animal was weaving and staggering and could hardly stand up when they first noticed  her and she was such a mess that they thought it was a dying coyote.more...

Kenya
I received a call from a woman who said she feared the worst for some puppies in the area.   She said she was driving on a country road and saw a very skinny, malnourished German Shepherd chained to an old rickety dog house and she thought she saw a tiny puppy by her side, and she wasn’t sure if it was dead or alive as it wasn’t moving.more...

Mario and Precious
Mario and Precious ended up at our rescue within weeks of each other.   They both were very young and came with serious issues.    Mario had been horribly abused as a young puppy by a cruel and ignorant man, and Precious had been dumped in the middle of winter and had serious health issues.   She fought pneumonia, frostbite and chronic upper respiratory infections for a very long time.   more...

Josie

Josie is one of the sweetest dogs that we have ever had at our rescue. Josie was owned by a man who intended on fighting her in the ring, but Josie just would not cooperate.

Josie came to us through very unusual circumstances and it was very apparent that she had been beaten, hung, and burned with cigarettes.   When she came to us she had a hematoma around her neck that made me cry just to look at it.   She still bears some scarring from the cigarette burns.   Josie does not have one mean bone in her body, although she loves to roughhouse, she never tries to hurt anyone or any of the other dogs.   Josie also had to have surgery for a torn cruciate in her knee, which was paid for by one of our best friends of our rescue.   Josie was adopted one time to a very nice young woman and things were going amazingly well until the woman found out that she was expecting a baby.  Her parents insisted that she return Josie to us, not because of Josie's temperament, but because of the reputation that pit bulls have around the country.  I tried a few times to re-adopt Josie, but no one came along that I trusted with this precious girl.  Pit bulls are almost impossible to adopt as you really just don't know if what people are telling you is the truth.   For this reason, Josie has been moved from our rescue end of things to our sanctuary as we feel that she has suffered enough in her life and we want to allow her to live out her life with us.

If you would like to help us pay for Josie's care, please mention Josie's name in the paypal transaction or you can call or email me for other arrangements.
