Angel
Some good Samaritans had found along a two-track road on State land here in Michigan.    They said that the animal was weaving and staggering and could hardly stand up when they first noticed  her and she was such a mess that they thought it was a dying coyote.more...

Kenya
I received a call from a woman who said she feared the worst for some puppies in the area.   She said she was driving on a country road and saw a very skinny, malnourished German Shepherd chained to an old rickety dog house and she thought she saw a tiny puppy by her side, and she wasn’t sure if it was dead or alive as it wasn’t moving.more...

Mario and Precious
Mario and Precious ended up at our rescue within weeks of each other.   They both were very young and came with serious issues.    Mario had been horribly abused as a young puppy by a cruel and ignorant man, and Precious had been dumped in the middle of winter and had serious health issues.   She fought pneumonia, frostbite and chronic upper respiratory infections for a very long time.   more...

Twiggy

TWIGGY’S  STORY

Twiggy and three siblings were discovered living in the midst of a huge forest where they had been abandoned by their cruel, irresponsible owners.  They were dumped at approximately 6 weeks of age and were left to fend for themselves, starve to death, or become food for predators. We do not know if there were more puppies that died, as we only discovered the four pups when a kind woman had heard cries of hunger coming from the woods.   She started putting food out in her yard for them and that is when she discovered that there were puppies.   She called us and we went and found the pups and brought them here to safety and security.

Twiggy was in the worst condition as she was skin and bone and quite weak.   It was apparent from the beginning that Twiggy and her sister Taffy were deeply bonded to one another as Twiggy would always step back and let Taffy eat the food before she would eat.   We finally had to separate them during feedings so Twiggy could get her full share of food.

We kept the four pups for a couple of months to make sure that they were fully healed and had learned to trust humans again.

The good news is that Taffy and Twiggy were adopted together to a great home in the Upper Peninsula in Michigan.   Although the pups were bonded as youngsters, we were told that Twiggy became aggressive towards Taffy and Twiggy had to be relocated to a new home.   I have not heard anything more for a while and I pray that these wonderful babies are still doing well
and are enjoying their lives.   They certainly did not have the best start in this world, but hopefully that was the end of their suffering.
